The 2nd (yellow, closest to you) strand
All 8 strands laid-up.When your work looks like this, turn it upside down where it will look like the next photo. If it does not look like this, go back and start all over!
Now bring the 1st strand forward, parallel to the adjacent strand, and tuck it down through the center of the knot alongside of the stem. It is easy to go wrong here, but the knot starts to take form and the strands will tend to follow a logical position.
Start to work the knot into a more snug (not fully tight!) position and you will see and feel the final shape forming up.
Next turn the knot right side up again, with the strand ends protruding from the top of the knot at the center.
Starting the final tuck!Bring the first strand to the right, parallel to the adjacent, then, using a needle and/or marlinspike or fid, tuck the strand down through the next double loop, emerging snug against the stem.
The 1st strand in process (see the needle with the green strand on the right-hand side of the knot).
After tucking all 8 strands, patiently snug & tighten the knot. The finished knot will look like this!
